Lookin’ Fresh

Now that wedding planning is over & we’re settled in our new place, I found I have a little bit of extra time on my hands to focus on Pink Button Creations! In the midst of wedding planning and everything else going on last Spring I had to put PBC on the back burner for awhile. Now that the waters have calmed, I’m excited to get things going again. It feels so good to have time for creativity!

The first PBC project I took on was giving the shop a little face lift. Here’s the new look!

I’m excited to work on a few new ideas and get some fun stuff listed in my shop over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!

…And We’re Back!

Whew! The past month has been an absolute blast! Graham and I are truly blessed. After celebrating our marriage with family and friends we headed up to Mammoth Lakes for six days to relax and enjoy the Sierras. Hiking, napping, exploring the local area – we did it all! Now we’re back, settled into our new place and enjoying life together. I have also started the daunting task of changing my name. I’ve got the Social Security Office, DMV and bank down – only a few more to go! One of these days I’ll officially be Mrs. Emily Hawkes!

We got some exciting news yesterday – our amazing photographer, Nick Donner, sent us a preview of our wedding pictures! I have included a few below, the remainder can be seen on his blog here:

Sweet Summer

We finally made it through San Diego’s notorious May-grey and June-gloom. The sun is out, the pool is packed and Summer is here!! It arrived just in time for 4th of July weekend and will hopefully stick around for our wedding, which is in less than two weeks!

Life has been pretty darn good lately – here’s a snapshot:

My mom was in town last weekend to help with wedding to-do’s [thanks mom!] and to attend my Bridal Shower. Family – friends – family – games – cupcakes — all so lovely!

These ladies bless me in more ways than they know :)

Graham and I started unpacking boxes, shuffling around furniture and getting settled in our new place. We absolutely love it and feel so blessed to have such a wonderful home! On Saturday night we assembled our new bed frame in record time and treated ourselves to a victory dinner afterwards :)

Team G&E building our new bed!

Today Graham and I are celebrating our “i love you – versary.” We kicked off the day with a yummy breakfast at The Omelette Factory and will be heading downtown tonight for the Big Bay Boom fireworks show! We’ve gone for the past three years in a row and love our little tradition :-)

Happy 'i love you' - versary!

Happy 4th of July ! ! !

My O my time is flying! Here’s a snapshot of what June has looked like for me:

  • I was a bridesmaid in my cousins beautiful wedding in El Dorado Hills, California
  • Graham and I were apartment hunting to find a new place to live after we get married
  • Finding THE place, submitting our application, holding our breath & praying….
  • AND signing a lease! We LOVE our new digs and are excited to make it our home
  • Moving over a TON of boxes to our new place [Graham is moving in now and I will move in after our wedding. Yup, we’re old school like that]
  • Going to another beautiful wedding at the US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego, California
  • Helping with an Open House to rent out Graham’s old place [his parents are the owners]
  • Mattress shopping
  • Wedding planning – making favors, coordinating details, notifying our guests of “carmageddon“…
It’s been a great month! However, I managed to take very few pictures these past few weeks – so unfortunately I don’t have any visuals to share with you. On another note – I can’t believe our wedding is in less than 30 days ! ! ! I’ll probably be posting less as less as the wedding draws near, but don’t worry, I’ll get back on track once things slow down in August!
PS: Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad’s out there!

Hooray! Yiippeee! Hooraaahh!

As many of you know, Graham recently completed his Masters in Accountancy from San Diego State University. He wrapped up his final class last August and walked this past weekend in the SDSU Graduation Ceremony. What you may not know is that he was also inducted to Beta Gamma Sigma – the honors society for the top 20% of graduate students! I like to call Graham my GSBKGrad School Butt Kicker. I am so proud of him and all of the dedication he put into his studies. He was a relentless student and it’s great to see it all pay off.

Graham’s family made an early trek into town on Saturday morning for the 8:00am ceremony. We lucked out with fantastic seats looking at the stage.

You bet we cheered at the top of our lungs when they called his name! After the ceremony we went to a reception for the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy where we met some of Graham’s professors.

The Hawkes Family!

Then we made our way to Phil’s BBQ – a family favorite! I’m guessing anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in San Diego is familiar with the glowing reputation of Phil’s. For those of you who are unfamiliar – let me just say it is hands down the best BBQ you’ll find in these parts. And, not only is the food fantastic – the customer service is great!

Onion Rings - Baby Back Ribs - Fries - Cole slaw - YUM!

Happy family with happy bellies!

Now that the ceremony has commenced and we had perfectly satisfied tummys we were happy to head back to Graham’s place to relax & enjoy each others company. Many laughs and cups of coffee later his family hit the road to make their way back home. What a wonderful day!

We Did It!

Playing Catch Up

Life is flying by these days!! I don’t quite have time to post individual updates on everything, so here is a quick photo summary. Enjoy!

I took a business trip to Detroit - which is a cool but eerily quiet city

We sent out our wedding invitations!

My lovely Matron of Honor, Ashley Stroud, threw me a FABULOUS Bachelorette Weekend in Sonoma. Wine tasting, chick flicks, shopping in San Francisco - it was good for the soul.

Graham & I hiked at Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
